Make your own spider craft for Halloween
It’s Halloween time! What’s better than making your own Halloween decorations? A little Playdoh, a few straws (8 to be exact) and black acrylic paint makes a perfect spider! Cut the tops of the straws so that the bendy parts are in the middle. These will be your spider legs.
Make a little ball with the Playdoh, then carefully stick in the straws to make the legs. Make sure you bend them to make them look like real legs! Then you can insert a short piece of wrapping-paper ribbon for hanging, and finally, paint it black. You’ve got a scary tarantula!
While you are creating your scary Halloween spider, you can talk about spiders, too. Do you know that spiders are not insects? Their 8 legs gives them away — all insects have 6 legs. Here are 20 interesting facts about spiders that you can share with your preschooler!
The moment of pride! It definitely could use a huge web and maybe more dramatic lighting, but you got the idea. The outcome? A happy and proud kid. A happier and prouder mom! And a scary spider, of course. I’m sure he’s happy too! 🙂
Don’t forget you can take a snapshot of your spider, and any other crafts, and create a personalized storybook at Piccuzoo.com! We’ll take your spider and other crafts and weave a custom tale around your creations!
